having to pay in cash with exact change is enough of a nuisance to discourage many first time riders from becoming regular users. Sell passes that cover a span of time, day, week, month. The passes would be good for unlimited rides, during the period.

A user takes a bus to work with a day pass, later takes the bus from work a mile down the road to the store, from the store home, then back on the bus to the gym 2 miles, back on the bus for another mile and stops for dinner or drinks with friends and finally back home for the night. All the rides would be covered with one pass.

The next day it might just be to and from work. Over time a monthly pass should be cheaper than the same amount spent on gas for a car. Currently, the bus is too expensive to do all the errands we have in daily life, with a flat fee this would not be true.
