Light rail is very expensive, but I think my idea is worth mentioning. This route which serves the Airport, Downtown, Zoo and Bellevue might be an attractive start up route for light rail in the Omaha area. Since a lot of it would be aligned next to existing freight rail lines, there would be minimal cost/impact from realigning roads to fit the line. 13th street is also a less traveled corridor in the area making it possible to build tracks within the current footprint of 13th street, and 13th is the most direct route to our biggest neighboring community.
